The US has won the most olympic medals overall (summer + winter) more than any other country. Why do you think this is so? It's pretty incredible to think of it that most of our athletes don't have support from the government and pay training on their own dime. I mean they had to work to support themselves as well as train ridiculous hours everyday.

beacuse you have more people then most countries and have a greater selection to chose from

more people doesn't necessarily mean talent look at the medal count for this winter olympics

geater selection to choose from...so yes, it does, plus, a greater chance of big companies supporting these atheles...most canadian atheletes have to raise money themselves to get top the olympics

why is it embarressing? It is not an all consuming thing...so what...i am happy for however wins, regardless of country...these people worked hard to get there, and the best person deserves the medal...if it is out country...hurray!...if it is another country...I say hurray too
